DOING THINGS ON PURPOSE
“And he said to them, “Let us go on to the next towns, that I may preach there also, for that is why I came out.” “ Mark 1:38 (ESV)
Jesus had just spent the day before ministering and teaching all over town. He healed the sick. Verse 32 says that there were many who were sick or oppressed by demons and HE healed them. In fact, Scripture says that the whole city came looking for him!
So, the next morning comes and typically one would expect that Jesus would finish the work HE began, right? Verse 35 says that Jesus rose early, prayed, and after HE was found, HE told the disciples that they had to go onto the next town, “…for that is why I came out.”
Once we experience great success, it’s tempting to want to stay in that realm of “success” but not Jesus. HE understood why HE came, and HE remained focused on that purpose. Sometimes success can be just as much of a distraction as other things.
Do you know your purpose? Are you focused on walking in that purpose? I encourage you to be relentless in finding your purpose and walking in it. If you’re a part of Linked UP Church, we offer Next Step 3 to guide you in that discovery. Life is too short to live outside of who God designed you to be.
Application For The Day:
What is one task you can do today that will move you forward in a personal goal? Write it down and get it done within the next 24 hours. Recognize a distraction in your life today and purposefully replace that distraction with that one task. If you haven’t taken Next Steps 3, commit to doing so the next time it’s offered.
Prayer For The Day:
Father God, I am designed for purpose by YOU! I yield myself to the voice of the Holy Spirit and will accomplish something TODAY that will move me forward in my purpose. Whether it’s walking in the Fruit of the Spirit or creating that business plan, I will walk in purpose on purpose today!!! Help me to recognize opportunities to walk in that purpose, in Jesus’ Name.
