HUMILITY BLOCKS

“Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:”  1 Peter 5:6-8 (KJV)

I am a very intelligent person!  I am surrounded by very intelligent people!  I love being around smart and capable people!  BUT, I must be cautious!  Smart, intelligent, capable and successful people can think they have all the answers; and, in fact, nothing could be further from the truth.

God tells us to humble ourselves before HIM.  Oftentimes we imagine that to mean many things like serving others, sitting in the back of the room, not announcing our credentials.  Sometimes, humility is simply saying, “I don’t know.”

Notice in Verse 7 that after we’re told to be humble.  God tells us to cast our care onto HIM.  Dear Heart, are you dealing with something and you think you need an answer?  A remedy?  A solution?  Sometimes all we have to do is cast that care onto God and TRUST HIM.  Because when you continue reading the next verse, we’re reminded that the devil seeks whom he may devour.

I believe that when we think we must have the answer, we’re tempted to stress, worry, and become anxious.  I’ve had my share of, “GOD, I NEED AN ANSWER NOW” moments, but the stress and worry only made my situation worse!  When we’re told to “cast” our care, we’re told to trust God.  We can make ourselves sick, diseased, or experience pain because we want that answer.  Then the enemy has an open shot.  Humility is a tool that blocks the work of the enemy.

Application For The Day:

What are you stressing about?  How much research have you done on a topic? With how many people have you shared your story seeking advice?  Stop!!!  Take time to cast it onto God by refocusing your thoughts on good things, self-care, enjoying time with loved ones, not feeling anxious or angry, PRAYING IN YOUR HEAVENLY LANGUAGE, meditation on God’s Word.  Your blood pressure will come down, you will sleep better, you will be aware of emotional eating, and you will feel better.  Trust God!

Prayer For The Day:

Father God, I humble myself before acknowledging that I don’t have all the answers about my situation, but I trust that you do!  I believe you when you said that You would never leave me nor forsake me.  I am casting my care upon you trusting that you are manifesting my answer even now, in Jesus’ Name.

(Pray in Tongues for at least five undistracted minutes.)
